AINAA – The mirror…

What kind of education can be imparted by a person who cannot even watch his own behavior?

Posted by Rewa Smriti on August 3, 2017

It’s been 6 years now, we have lost Iqbal sir and since then JNVK has changed so much. Over time, his loss became more acute for JNV Katihar. Within few year, result went down. Forget result, Navodaya is more than this! Not only result, if truth be told, the whole school environment and morality is deteriorating day by day which is unfavorable for a residential school culture.

Few months back when I heard some indigestible news about unethical actions from few of my juniors that disturbed me a lot and I couldn’t stop myself to visit the place, where I have spent golden days of my life.

It is highly unethical and immoral! Any principal or higher authority of any school, be it new or old for the campus, having the administrative powers of entire school, should be more responsible towards his/her action. They must have ethics and moral values by virtue. Nevertheless, nowadays, the people who are newly posted in school to lead the administration are lacking the moral value and character. It is sad that, they are not aware of residential school culture and its values.

Most administrators spend a most of their time dealing with school discipline and behavior. It seems few spiritless people have joined educational institution and have their own axe to grind as they don’t have any other options. Such people will never be able to impart a quality education to students when they themselves don’t know what they are doing. When you don’t have a moral value to play in front of children/students, you don’t deserve such a dignified place for your unethical activity.  We respect and value our teachers and it’s not honor that one can “demand” for, but something that has to be “earned”!!!

What kind of education can be imparted by such a person who cannot even watch his own behavior???? Misuse of powers at such a position should be acted upon very strictly by higher authorities. But I don’t know why they are unable to act accordingly.

Schools are the ideal places to inculcate values in our children, including how to build ‘CHARACTER’ and make good choices down the road. There are some people who may have some goodness in them, they have a certain code of morals and values that they live by, and this keeps them “grounded”.

I strongly feel that the culture of a school determines the frequency of successful students. Any School would always be interested in three kinds of outcomes: “Skills” to be able to do something, “knowledge” to be able to differentiate between right and wrong, and “Character” to develop good habits and virtue.  Most importantly, it’s about promoting ethics, values, and behavior in building a positive and productive person.  It’s everything we do that influences the kind of human beings we become.

This is ironical that some pathetic people are there to build character of the students.

I always believed and followed “Don’t respect person or position, Respect BEHAVIOUR!” I will forgive anything you do in your life, because it doesn’t matter to me. However, if any of your action leaves negative impact on the campus, we the alumni of Navodaya will be shameful for such people/administration/higher authority. We always make sure that they hear our say and will do whatever we can to make things right.”

We have decided not to hide anything so that other people get benefit of it and raise their voice against immoral acts.

तुम निर्बाध हो, प्रवाह हो

Posted by Rewa Smriti on July 18, 2017

I am posting one of the most beautiful poem I’ve ever read. This is written by one of my very good friend, a navodayan Anurag Ranjan. He is one of my favorite poet of this era. I enjoy reading his each and every poem. His Poetrylike music, draws a picture of things or emotions to which we can relate and we can feel that again through poetry.

Our Sincere Thanks to All!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on June 14, 2017

Dear All,

We are speechless and falling short of words to express our feelings to see the overwhelming response to stand for each other. Few days back we had sought for contributions for our fellow Narasimha and we are happy to share that the contributions received by now are much more than our expectation.

Your small contribution can save life of Narasimha!

As you all know, our brother Narsimha, a fellow Navodayan from JNV Medak (1991-98), met with tragic accident two years ago which resulted in amputation of his leg and an infection in kidneys, lungs and spinal cord. He is from poor, agriculture dependent family and is father of three kids. His brother died recently in another unfortunate incident who was the sole earner and financial supporter of his family.

The minimum need for treatment of Narsimha as told to us was Rs. 5 lacs, and we had set this amount as our target for collection of contribution. But we are very happy to share that this target was achieved by May 30 only, and still the contributions kept flowing. We continued with this on the advice of some of our fellow alumni, and we kept collecting till 5th of June. Now we request not to send any more contributions.

Please find the details of contribution made till now are given below:

We are thankful from the bottom of our heart for every single contribution we received from all the corners for our brother Narasimha. We couldn’t have done it without you! Your kind spirit to help made it possible to achieve the goal within no time, which is really commendable and beyond our imagination. This moment is making us to shout out loud “Hami Navoday hon“!!!

At the end, we appreciate the dedication of all our coordinators, the credit definitely goes to their round the clock efforts to make it possible and once again it is proved that together we can make a difference!

Regards,
AINAA

Your small contribution can save life of Narasimha!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on May 19, 2017

Dear All

As you all know, our brother Narsimha, a fellow navodayan from JNV Medak (1991-98), met with tragic accident two years ago which resulted in amputation of his leg and an infection in kidneys, lungs and spinal cord. He is from poor, agriculture dependent family and is father of three kids. His brother died recently in another unfortunate incident who was the sole earner and financial supporter of his family.

Inherently, we know we are navodayans and we have been designed to live for something greater than ourselves. Our greatest successes in life are often found in helping others. Narasimha needs our help in order to get better treatment and continue supporting his family. It will be a shame to see a navodayan lose his life due to lack of money. So, please come forward and join hands together to help him survive in whatever way you can and your support will give hope to him and his family. We truly appreciate your help and efforts in helping Narasimha!

Navodayans, We require some Introspection!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on June 30, 2016

Dear All,

I would like to bring to the notice of my Navodaya brothers and sisters a few things here for self-appraisal. Its not that I am against anybody nor am I trying to demean anyone here. This is just my view and I always have been working this way. I am not follower of anyone, but I try to evaluate the right way, taking guidance wherever necessary, and propose the same for everyone else. Seeing the present state of Navodayans, I would like to talk about a few things here.

I have always felt that my navodaya family is doing something different which makes us feel proud and it gives us a sense of satisfaction but seeing few recent activities…it does not give me any pride nor do I appreciate such things. Pardon me if anybody is getting hurt reading this post. I am happy if anyone among you does any kind of activities for uplifting a navodayan’s life and I really admire such kinds of activities. But I discourage activities meant for momentary pleasures as they are not going to be helpful for our family in any way. If anybody is earning enough money, please value that money and invest it to help others rather just going to any five or seven star hotels to have alumni meet. We have such beautiful and large campuses in front of which five or seven star hotels have no value. At personal level you are free to do so. No one will object you…but our vision is getting diluted and I feel that we are lacking the guidance and going on the wrong track.

Secondly, the news of my brothers and sisters fighting with each other over petty issues and getting divided is also disheartening. The vision of Navodaya has National Integration as one of its pillars, and our conduct needs to be in consonance with our vision. Our opinions may differ, but the sense of being related needs to continue. So, here we require some introspection!

Hence I propose a few things here:

  1. We are all aware that JNV works to select talented rural children as the target group and attempts to provide them with quality education. Keeping this in view, we need to organize our get-togethers and other activities in a simple but profound manner and that too in our own campuses so that as many students as possible can get benefited and feel inspired.
  2. We need to work on our mutual relationships so that we work in an integrated manner, rather than getting divided as we have been taught to work for national integrity and this has been the vision of entire Navodaya.
  3. We need to expand our activities to other needy children of the society, and not restrict ourselves to only Navodayans. So our activities will be by Navodayans but for the entire Nation.
  4. We have a huge manpower, but we need to devise ways to utilize our potential in the right direction, rather than spoiling it over our own conflicts!
  5. We can make a team of guardians made up of experienced teachers/ principals/ commissioners/ deputy commissioners who will keep guiding us and evaluating our performance from time to time. For example: Nageshwar Rao sir, Rama Rao sir, Ramchandra sir, Ashok Shukla sir, Girish sir, Ali sir, D K Modi sir and many more…
  6. We can invite eminent personalities of the society for giving talk to our team which will not only enthuse them but also make us dream big for the society and nation.

It is only a proposal from me. You may agree or disagree with me over these points, and hence I invite suggestions from you for open discussion.

दुनिया की भीड़ में क्यों खो रहा, मिलेगा कुछ भी न फल जो बो रहा…

Help Suresh fight cancer!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on June 28, 2016

Dear All,

On behalf of Shahnawaz and Satyajeet, I am sharing this here. Please “Don’t take” this as another forwarded message or wasted propaganda… Help if you can… Please donate for him…students may also help him by donating some amounts of their pocket money.

My name is Mohammed Shahnawaz, a childhood friend of Suresh. I, on behalf of him and our JNV school alumni group, have created this campaign . This month he has been diagnosed with blood cancer (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a deadly type of blood cancer and without regular treatment one cannot survive.

Suresh is a migrant from Bihar’s one of the flood-ravaged backward region and a small time employee in a private firm at Ludhiana. He is a father of sweety (6 year old daughter) and Satyam (4 year old son). The total household income is Rupees 15000 per month and with this money his family can not bear the costly treatment of regular chemotherapy. His school (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalya) alumni group have mobilized the initial costs and resources. He has been admitted to SPS Apolo in Ludhiana for initial chemo. Though he has been shifted to more affordable AIIMS,New Delhi couple of days back but his family is struggling hard to get a bed at the hospital. Doctor is anticipating initial treatment cost of rupees 7,00,000 and in this kind of cases this may go up to Rupees 20,00,000. His family and school alumni group has been trying hard to arrange for the funds. The only option left for him now is to ask for your help.

Your support and Contribution will help him to fight this deadly diseases and return happiness on faces Sweety and Satyam.

Help Suresh fight cancer!
We will keep you updated with the progress. We are sharing a link: A message from Suresh to his school friends!
We desperately want all to donate to save Suresh’s life. Even the donation equivalent to a packet of cigarette matters. We are sharing the link: Help Suresh to fight Cancer…Thanks and Regards,
Shahnawaz and Satyajeet

Kindly contribute to save a family…!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on March 17, 2016

Dear All,

I would like to mention about one of our brothers named Rupesh Kumar from J.N.V Katihar of 2008-2015 batch. He was preparing for IIT JEE, and qualified for NIT last year. But he dropped it and is preparing for IIT JEE again. He has been a sincere and laborious student throughout.

The economic background of Rupesh is not good. His elder brother (whose monthly income is about 5.5 Thousand) has been the only source of income to his family, and most of his income was dedicated to Rupesh’s study (about 4 Thousand per month). Very unfortunately, last Saturday Rupesh’s brother met with a major accident in which his head was badly damaged and thigh fractured. He is currently admitted in PARAMOUNT Hospital PVT, Siliguri. A Major operation has been done and still the treatment is continuing, while he is still unconscious. The expenditure per day at the hospital is about 30 thousand rupees, and until now huge money has been spent. So it is not possible to save a family from this worst situation without our economic support. To help, we on behalf of AINAA, would like to request you to please come forward and help the family financially as much as you can. We all would be very much grateful for this kind act.

For contribution, the account details are:
