Is there any strong punishment available?

It has been discussed many times but let me put my words here. Yesterday, when I was watching the news, I was shocked at once to hear the news about the gangrape case of an MBA girl in Noida. It is not the single case, in another case, a six-year-old girl raped by an unidentified man in Mohali! There are so many such cases which have happened in many places before. This is not only in Noida, Panjab, Bangalore, Mumbai etc. but ranges from small villages to the big cosmopolitan cities. Indeed, it’s shameful for a nation which is trying to call itself ‘DEVELOPED’!

Somewhere it’s said, “There is a medicine for every disease a cure for every evil but none can change a man’s nature by any means!”

I am talking about some particular aspect of men’s mentality not overall mentality of men. Though we have crossed many social barriers and climbed many social stairs, but when it comes to treating the women with contempt it still remains the same as ancient. Everybody seems blaming the girls for the provocative dresses they wear. Allright! I agree with this and they have to take up this blame! The kind of dresses some of our friends wear even put us to shame. Provocative dressing is considered to be a big reason for such crimes today. However, can you find the reasons for a villager to rape a village girl who is traditionally dressed in Salwar Kameez or Sari?? Or we have to admit that the Indian fashion industry has made its way into the far reaching villages of this country as well!

Perhaps, some people say that we have to go to root cause…..whats that? You may say we have to educate them propelry, but why they don’t see that there are many educated people invloved in these cases. जब किसी की बहन के साथ बलात्कार होता है तो भाई कत्लेआम करने पर उतर जाता है और कहता है, जिसने मेरी बहन के साथ ऐसा किया है, उसे गोली मार दूँगा! लेकिन, जब इस मुद्दे पर बात करो तो “root cause” में जाने की बातें करते हैं, ‘Education’ की बात करते हैं, राजनेताओं के तरह दो शब्द “सहानभूति” की बोलकर राजनीति दिखाते हैं. Anyway, I don’t think we should educate them or look into the root cause. It’s enough to talk about root cause. क्योंकि, करते सब वही हैं जो उनके दिल को  भाता है, और भुगतना किसी और को पड़ता है! 

I agree there are such social organizations demanding severe punishment for the rapist and I think it’s justified. Till today capital punishment is the strongest punishment has been given. Some of people must be thinking that “Death Sentence” is the best solution. But, I believe this type of punishment is not going to affect much to people with such mentality. Death Sentence should be deleted from the constitution and instead of that we should let them alive, and we have to find such punishments which make them suffer for whole life!

Every problem has two types of solution. For that, we can approach the solution either from suffered people or from the system side. These types of problems have to be tackled from the system side, but we have to consider suffered too. As I think system has to ask victim who really suffer a lot. One can not take all the protective measures to get away from the rapist. So, the system has to provide the protection, and also make sure that justice is not only done, but also seen to be done! Sometime the responsible person doesn’t get punished. I would suggest that our system has to go in to depth of these cases. I feel this alone cause fear in the minds of many men who will think thousand times before committing any such crime.

Well, you may suggest very easily that we are the women of 21st century so face the situations boldly and don’t cry! I would say, please stop giving these type of inspiring suggestions…Most of the women know it very well.

Anyway, is there any strong punishment available? Which punishment is most suitable for a rapist according to you?
