Posted by Rewa Smriti on September 28, 2008

Some ulajhta se some sulajhta!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on September 24, 2008

Actually Rachnaji asked me to read her post. I read her thoughts, what I understood and whatever I felt, I penned down. After reading my reply, she said it’s not related to her post at all! Anyway, I am quoting her post below.

जिस दिन महिलाए अपने अभिभावकों से ये तीन अधिकार ले लेगी उसदिन वो समानता की सही परिभाषा को समझगी । उसदिन समाज मे “पराया धन ” के टैग से वो मुक्त हो जाएगी । समानता का अर्थ यानी मुक्ति रुढिवादी सोच से क्योकि जेंडर ईक्वलिटी इस स्टेट ऑफ़ माइंड { GENDER EQUALITY IS STATE OF MIND }

Below is quoted my reply to her post.

No criticism, No baiting, No ulta pulta thinking. I hope you will understand my point if I elaborate it properly. Let me first say that these three rights are desirable, if not necessary. But again, are they sufficient for a woman to live happily? If not, can we make out what will be sufficient?

Well, I was discussing something with my brother and sister when I was in Delhi. Then suddenly I said to my brother Babloo that these days most of the people are talking about equality and rights. Then he made me to understand about समझदारी/ईमानदारी/ज़िम्मेदारी/भागीदारी very logically . Again I discussed same thing with one of my very close friend and he too explained it in very clear and practical way. I analysed my thoughts and I feel this way which I have written above in my comment.

Now coming to the main point. According to me (and I would like to invite your views on it), these rights may or may not help to make better lives of women. Let me ask whether these three rights are sufficient? Ok, chalo we have been given all three rights mentioned above then what will happen? Just think, if given the rights, will it solve the problems of women? kya ham kah sakte hein ki teeno adhikaron ko milne ke baad sabhi sukhi ho jayegi or khush rahenge? After all, what is the purpous of life?

Reading above post and some of comments, I feel that they are trying to escape from the ‘ज़िम्मेदारी’ (responsibility)! It’s true that most of the people always forget their own responsibilities towards their children, parents, siblings, society or nation these days! I tell you that one can’t talk about so called ‘अधिकार’ (rights) until unless you are not able to understand your responsibility or not willing to take responsibility! At last, I would like to say that you get involved you will get rights, it’s so simple!

A Condolence!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on September 21, 2008

As I had planned to take proper rest and to enjoy to the fullest with my lovely bhai and bahan, so I did! And for the last few days I have been suffering from fever, cold and cough. But what to do, I had to come back to my workplace, and finally I am back!

Today almost after 15 days of gap I checked my mailbox. There are so many mails but I checked two or three mails as I am not keeping well. I found a mail sent by one of navodaya bhai Madhu Babu, and after reading that, I got disappointed. I am quoting that mail below.

Hi Friends,

This morning(14th Sept…sunday), Yugandhar Reddy committed suicide by jumping from 4th floor of the NIMS;Hyderabad.Reported spot dead.I express my hearfelt condolences to him. And express my support to his family.

Gangadhar Battula.

Although Yugandhar fought a long and a very hard battle with life, he gave up hope and left us forever!  May God give strength to the ill-fated mother of two sons who struggled a lot to improve her child’s life. In 1999, she had lost her husband in a faction violence, and now she has lost the last hope of her life.

Friends, let’s pray together for the departed soul. May God rest his soul in eternal peace and bless his family members with the courage. I extend my deepest condolence to his family and friends.

Bihar Flood Relief Work in progress!

Posted by Rewa Smriti on September 11, 2008

Let’s read about the heroism of our navodayans.

I am at IITK for the last few days, and tonight I am leaving for Delhi.

Today morning by mistake I left my mobile at my room. When I came back to my room, I found three or four missed calls from navodaya brothers Anand and Saqib. Both of them wanted to share some good news with me. I called back Anand and he was very much excited to tell me about the news. I just knocked the door of google bhai and found the relevant link. Thank you google bhaiya! Read the news quoted below.

The catastrophic floods in the east Indian state of Bihar resulted in many deaths and much hardship, but the suffering could have been much worse if it was not for the efforts of some valiant individuals.

Tens of thousands of people have been forced to take shelter in hundreds of crammed relief camps where food and clean water are in short supply.

One such hero was Anand Mohan, who has just graduated from India’s premier engineering institute, the Indian Institute of Technology [IIT] and is set to join a multinational mining company in Australia in mid-October.

After graduating from IIT, he planned to return to Sharsha town in Bihar for a week to say good-bye to his parents.

Sharsha was among the five districts hardest-hit in Bihar.

Although efforts were made to provide food and shelter to hundreds of displaced people just behind Sharsha’s railway station, supplies soon ran out. To read more click on the link http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7606185.stm

And then I called back to Saqib. He has given me another very good news that two more of our teams are going to Supoul for the same cause. In this team we will be having doctors as well. Saqib who himself is doing MBBS in AMU, is coordinating this team and leaving for Bihar on 12th.

Really we are proud of you brothers. Anand and Shaqib, you are simply doing a great job. We feel happy when we see that our help reaches to the needy on time!

I had a meeting with navodaya alumni who are studying at IITK, and it was a good meeting with them. They are really doing good work here in IITK. To read more click here on navodaya.net
